Monday, Jan. 20 Agenda

• Bell Ringer: Start The Odyssey  -grab lit book
• Present epic posters
• Read all italicized information on pages 1104-1112 as a class (last page, read Italicized and Lotus Eaters independently).  While reading take notice of how epic characteristics are shown, what happens in the plot (on timeline/story map) 
• Social Issue PSA work time
• At this point you should be DONE working on your script and storyboard (If you didn’t show me them Friday, do it now). Presentations of PSAs on THURSDAY!

• Continue thinking of what you want to talk about/show/etc.
• Works Cited Page (due when you present) so keep track of where your info is coming from –don’t need an entry if you don’t use it for your PSA
• Remember, you need images, videos?, audio files, you don’t just want words on the screen (but you do need some words on the screen)

• Finish all Notes: if you aren’t sure what to take notes on these are the key terms to think of: ISSUE, IMPACT, IMPORTANCE –make sure to find as much in depth info as you can to be an EXPERT on the topic
• After lunch you should be done reading through your sources and writing notes (AS IN DONE WITH the 6th row on the research rubric) If not, FINISH for HOMEWORK
• –you are looking for a specific issue for your PSA…
• If you are ready to start creating your PSA, explore your options (see directions sheet shared in Classroom for these -we will talk through this all after lunch)

  • What should a Public Service Announcement Do/Have/Be?

  • Continue notes: if you aren’t sure what to take notes on these are the key terms to think of: ISSUE, IMPACT, IMPORTANCE –make sure to find as much in depth info as you can to be an EXPERT on the topic
  • Work time today, Tuesday; then you need to be prepared to make your video 
  • Today you should be checking through your info and then FINDING MORE SPECIFIC INFO FOR YOUR ISSUE (DEFINITELY INCLUDING IMAGES and/or VIDEO/AUDIO)

Friday, Jan. 10 Agenda

• Evaluate 5 and 6 together (whole class)
• Evaluate your assigned # plus a second.  Be prepared to share your answers with a partner (and then the whole class) Monday
• Research Time
• Continue notes: if you aren’t sure what to take notes on these are the key terms to think of: ISSUE, IMPACT, IMPORTANCE –make sure to find as much in-depth info as you can to be an EXPERT on the issue you chose
• Work time today, Monday, by Tuesday (end of block) you need to be prepared to make your PSA

Thursday, Jan. 9 Agenda

• Bell Ringer: Outline Check (if you have comments on it/aren’t done, you should do that FIRST!!!) -have outline pulled up when bell rings
• Research
• If necessary (as in you don’t have 15 sources): Continue researching: you want a lot of different texts (articles, audio clips, video clips, pictures, etc) that show the importance of your theme/issue (you should be looking during your research for an issue/problem/negative situation connected to your theme)
• Rubric (Ideas Part)
• How to take notes
• If a site doesn’t work for you, just mark it as such, don’t erase it
• Copy/paste, write in own words, etc.
• Keep track of what info comes from where
• Copied pictures, graphs, etc count as notes too
• Make sure you have images and possibly video clips 
• You should have at least 3/4th of your notes done by end of class!
• On Demand Writing Assessment: If you don’t finish in the time given, you will be signed up for advisory tomorrow
• The first sentence you write is your THESIS
• Then write either 2 or 4 TIQA paragraphs (TIQA x1 four times or TIQA x2 two times)
• You conclude your writing with your RESTATED THESIS
• Paperclip the rubric to the paragraphs and turn in when done
• Continue working on your research
