• Bell Ringer: Turn on computer and go to Google Classroom 
• Pre-test –when done, turn it in (click the button on the top right of the document ) and read your book 
• Independent Reading: 10 min
• READER’S NOTES:  Define Inference, Explicit, Analysis/Analyze, Textual Evidence, Close Reading/Annotating
• Same sheet: “Human Experience:” brainstorm: What is “the human experience”? 
• Intro to Short Story Unit: Vocab- fill out cloze notes in class (if miss any, definitions in slides shared with you); put in your Reader’s Notebook short story section
• 15 minutes: 1) finish pre-test 2)Work on poem 3)Read independent book
• Reminder: I Am From poems due TOMORROW, 15 lines will be read in class

• If you finish before the end of work time, show me the draft, then either work on making it stronger or reading your book
• Minimum of five stanzas that are at least 3 lines long; each stanza starts with “I am from…”

Monday, Jan. 27 Agenda

• Practice Bell Ringer:  Writer’s Notebook: What are things you feel confident about related to reading, writing, speaking, and listening? What are things related to these ideas that you struggle with?

• Write in your writer’s notebook for the entire time you are given (about 5 minutes)
• I will be walking around checking for length and effort
• We may share after the 5 minutes

• If you don’t remember what is needed for each entry, use the works cited google slide linked in Classroom (in the Writing category)

• Read The Cyclops pg 1112: notes details of event and how it shows epic characteristics, specifically epic hero 
• Epic Hero; Epic Setting; Archetypes; Epic Theme; Epic Plot; 
• PSA work time 
• Rubric reminder
• Videos due Thursday beginning of block (email links to me)
• (final class time is Wednesday)
• Remember, you need a work cited page for your PSA!!

Monday, Jan. 20 Agenda

• Bell Ringer: Start The Odyssey  -grab lit book
• Present epic posters
• Read all italicized information on pages 1104-1112 as a class (last page, read Italicized and Lotus Eaters independently).  While reading take notice of how epic characteristics are shown, what happens in the plot (on timeline/story map) 
• Social Issue PSA work time
• At this point you should be DONE working on your script and storyboard (If you didn’t show me them Friday, do it now). Presentations of PSAs on THURSDAY!
