• GO TO MEETING AGENDA
• Outline is due at 1:20 on Friday
• Main Ideas
• Textual Evidence: 3-6 final, continue finding as many as you can to start, then begin to narrow:
• Things that can be ANALYZED –they don’t say EXACTLY what you are trying to say, but you read between the lines and infer and interpret to get to proving your thesis (you may even think of modifying your thesis after you have finalized your pieces of evidence)
• On Outline: Need thesis and at least three main ideas/points with three quotes (minimum) by mid block tomorrow
• On Friday (middle of block LATEST), you should be done with your outline (or at least body paragraph portion) and starting to write your body paragraphs.  If you are at this point earlier, complete the rest of the outline (intro and conclusion) and then start the fourth and fifth steps (topic sentences and paragraphs (rough drafts))

Wednesday, Nov. 6 Agenda

• Bell Ringer: Share poster evidence with class
• Independent Reading time: 15 minutes
• If you finish your book club book, you need to find a new one (or go back to one you were reading before). Sara Christopherson from the public library will be here Friday to present some new books for ideas…
• Thesis Answers: write answers in craft lesson section
• Outline Notes: Craft lesson section
• Outline Template in Craft Section
• Analysis paper assignment –a THEME connected to: any big idea more in depth (THEME), any idea examined by your group or you as an individual, any quote, life lesson, real world parallel, etc 
• Big Ideas and Messages (what you highlighted)

Tuesday, Nov. 5 Agenda

• Bell Ringer: Thesis Question then 5 minutes to finish comments on TIQA paragraphs
• 15 minutes reading
• Make sure to notice/note evidence that can help you find MESSAGES about BIG IDEAS (THEMES) 
• If you finish your book club book, you need to find a new one (or go back to one you were reading before). Sara Christopherson from the public library will be here Friday to present some new books for ideas…
• Brainstorming Messages from your novel –on Google Classroom
• Highlight big ideas, add messages to at least 5 (creating themes); turn in when done
• Theme example: Isolation (highlighted big idea): Individuals who are forced into isolation fear reentry into society.
• Class Themes from List
• Comment Approving/Responding
• Formative Experiences
• • What are they? 
  • Events, conversations, situations, etc. that shape or mold a person (their beliefs, morals, character, etc.)
  • On your blog, write a bit about these questions:
  • What are some formative experiences in the novel for your characters?
  • How did they help/are they helping form their identity at the end of the book/as the book comes to an end (do you think)?
  • What are some lessons they will take away from these different formative experiences?

Tuesday, Nov. 4 Agenda

• Make sure your Courage TIQA is posted on YOUR blog: If this is not done, DO IT NOW!!
• Meeting #6

Find 2 courage posts on the blogs of individuals reading a different book than you, read their paragraphs and comment about how your book has a similar type of courage seen, or connect to their para in a different way

Friday, Nov. 1 Agenda

• Bell Ringer: In book club section/thought log: IN LIFE: What factors influence our moral growth? What kinds of experiences help us learn how to judge right from wrong?
• Definition of Moral: concerned with the principles of right and wrong behavior and the goodness or badness of human character.
• For meeting 6: track areas of moral growth of your main character
• Writer’s Workshop
• MLA Format: 1.5 spaced, heading on top left, back to back printing, bibliography its own page
• EXACT Theme written DIRECTLY in top box on rubric
• Rubric on top, story in the middle, bibliography on bottom, PAPER CLIPPED together
• Courage TIQA para
• Brainstorming types of courage together
• Write paragraph, making sure to ANALYZE NOT summarize
• When done, post it to your blog –due Monday
• COURAGE PARA DIRECTIONS:
• • Courage: Based on your big idea tracking, explain (in paragraph form) one of the different types of courage that exist in the world and how it has been shown in your book.  
  • You need specific quotes from the novel to use while proving your point.  This should be at least a paragraph in length. 
  • Write in paragraph format! TIQA x1 at least!)
  • Step 1: Pick a type of courage in your book
  • Step 2: Find evidence (EXACT QUOTE) -consult your annotations for ideas
  • Step 3: Write the TIQA paragraph on your blog
  • Post needs to be up by start of class on Monday 
  • In-text Citation: (Lee 33).
• Independent reading time –BE PREPARED FOR MEETING 6 MONDAY!!
• Make sure you have finished your Big Idea Comp Book para as it’s due
• When annotating, mark specific places where big ideas are seen!!

Thursday, Oct. 31 Agenda

• Bell Ringer: One Quill Activity Completed
• Begin brainstorming any current issues or events that you can relate to or connect to your book.  You should have a list of at least 5 to share with your group during today’s meeting
• Make sure these are five ADDITIONAL ideas  
• Meeting #5

• Need to do Meeting 5 form through google classroom
• Writer’s Workshop -story and bibliography due TOMORROW!!
• Blogging
• Comment approving
• MAKE SURE YOU COMMENTED ON AT LEAST ONE STORY, hopefully two
• Work on your next and final draft using my comments and the comments of peers (as well as your own self-editing)

Wednesday, Oct. 30 Agenda

• Writer’s Workshop Time: 
• Understanding the Human Experience
• Reading commenting collaborator’s story on blog
• Comments due beginning of class tomorrow
• Finish working on your bibliography or helping others with theirs, working on your story, or reading your independent book. 
• Due Friday
• Blog post with 3 pics/videos minimum
• Short story paper copy (best draft with theme written on the rubric)
• Bibliography
• 15 minutes reading -look for big ideas, WoW, discussion question topics, answer quiz questions if you haven’t, comp book para (big idea), etc.
• ( track courage)
• Hand back quizzes and correct what your peer answered on the questions you created

Tuesday, Oct. 29 Agenda

• Bell Ringer: Using the Q-chart, make a 7 question quiz on the first half of your book.  Create questions in all parts of the chart (comprehension and discussion); think of ‘teacher-like’ questions that would cover all important aspects of the book so far
• Follow-up questions are good (what do you think AND WHY?)
• 10 minutes reading –remember, comp book paragraph (big idea) is due Friday
• Using textual evidence (and TIQA format) will demonstrate your understanding in a way that aims to be above expectations
• Enhancing Understanding 
• Three pics (minimum) inserted in the correct place in your story due end of block
• Quiz Exchange (due Wednesday)
• Bibliography Work time (needs to be done with the FINAL draft -Friday)

Monday, Oct. 28 Agenda

• Bell Ringer: Writer’s Workshop time
• 15 minutes work time: Work at whatever step you need to complete (theme tracing, revising for craft/content, revising for editing (and meeting with me), etc. End result: best piece of writing you have ever created)
• Consider using a computer resource for editing assistance:
• Grammarly.com, slickwrite.com, Easy Bib’s grammar portion, Ginger writer, Turnitin’s purple layer, prowritingaid.com, others?
• Draft posted on your blog after 15–should be at a ‘final’ point
• Title the post your story’s title
• I will not be grading THIS online version...

Friday, Oct. 25 Agenda

• Bell Ringer: 15 minutes reading -look for big ideas, WoW, discussion question topics, etc 
• Writer’s Workshop
• Perspective Story Rubric reminder
• Work on what you need to do to make this story the best piece of writing you have done -be prepared to post a close to final draft on your blog
• Third/fourth draft –fluency and general self-edit
• Big Idea Paragraph (this needs to be done by next Friday):
• Pick one of the 30ish big ideas notebooks.  In that notebook, explain how the book you are reading shows that big idea.  
• What is your author saying about it based on what is happening/what people are saying/what it makes you think/etc. 
• How do the ideas in your book on this theme/big idea connect to ideas in reality, other books, your life, etc 
• If you can find evidence to support yourself, that would be great.  
• This should be a longer paragraph in length.  
• Write your name and the big idea you wrote about on the notebook paper in the green binder
