Tuesday, Nov. 5 Agenda


  • Bell Ringer: Thesis Question then 5 minutes to finish comments on TIQA paragraphs
  • 15 minutes reading
    • Make sure to notice/note evidence that can help you find MESSAGES about BIG IDEAS (THEMES) 
    • If you finish your book club book, you need to find a new one (or go back to one you were reading before). Sara Christopherson from the public library will be here Friday to present some new books for ideas…
  • Brainstorming Messages from your novel –on Google Classroom
    • Highlight big ideas, add messages to at least 5 (creating themes); turn in when done
      • Theme example: Isolation (highlighted big idea): Individuals who are forced into isolation fear reentry into society.
  • Class Themes from List
  • Comment Approving/Responding
  • Formative Experiences
      • What are they? 
        • Events, conversations, situations, etc. that shape or mold a person (their beliefs, morals, character, etc.)
      • On your blog, write a bit about these questions:
        • What are some formative experiences in the novel for your characters?
          • How did they help/are they helping form their identity at the end of the book/as the book comes to an end (do you think)?
        • What are some lessons they will take away from these different formative experiences?
